James’ romantic, rose-tinted approach to life seeps into all aspects of his film philosophy: tangible mediums, practical effects, vintage wardrobe, mythic narrative and a world monochrome.

Due to his directing roots, James has become something of a filmmaking jack of all trades, turning his head to a number of low-budget shorts including Lazy Susan’s Salt Water Sympathy and Hector Miller’s Peckish. Of late, James has begun to utilise his taste within the art department with a focus in styling and costume. His most recent work in the upcoming Lazy Susan production Son of Venus featured a pair of couture hand-made multi layered denim jeans, with the aid of Natasha Coleman.
